Hi Anthony, I tried the easy install option but it didn't work for me. I even changed the public_html chmod to 777.

Please tell me what to do.

can i upload via ftp?

I also have phpadmin. Once I'm logged into php admin where exactly do I go to upload the db.

Thanks

I looked at php admin some more and saw that there were several variables i could choose from to upload the db.

my question is...

will the db be needed if i get the .tgz file uploaded?

I tried taking the .tgz apart to upload the components one at at time but extracting it only gives me one big file.

I was searching about this site and found http://joomlabamboo.com/custom-installations/installing-the-packages

I used fantastico to install my new joomla which is just waiting for customization. It's brand new. But on your site it says "This will only work on completely new installations of Joomla!"

so does this mean that i have to delete my new fantastico installed version?

"After navigating to the custom installation site," Which site is the custom installation site?

Help.

Hi Maren,

Some servers are a little tricky to do the online transfer on. The main issue is getting the absolute path right.

In situations where the online transfer is tricky I normally just upload manually and then install the database via php myadmin.

Ill upload a zip rather than a tgz which will make it a little easy to install. Its Sunday morning here now so wont be for a little while.

Thanks for pointing out the missing images. They got lost in the site update last month

Oh and yes the installation needs to be in an empty folder so no prior J! installations.

Thanks Anthony.

Oh Anthony your replies are like water to a thirsty soul.

Happy Sunday!

I deleted my J! installation.

I saw the .zip file you uploaded.

I saw the upload area in php admin but i also see a lot of different options to select. Can you give me some guidance here please.

So this means that I don't have to create a mysql DB right?

Should i upload the package as a zip or should i extract everything then upload?

Thanks

Maren

Hi Maren,

I just uploaded the images for that how to .. .hope it helps.

You just need to install/upload into the directory that your url is pointing to.

I can't imagine what I could possibly be dong wrong but the quick upload isn't working for me.

So i'm attempting to upload the files manually but the zip file which now replaces the .tgz is the same as the DB file content.

I may be wrong but please check it out.

Thanks.

EDIT: i checked again and the Bamboo Loaded Ecommerce Package is the same as the database package.

Is the name USERAME the name of your host account?

I would just extract the zip from the download area and upload manually .. .then install the database via phpmyadmin.

The online installer works perfectly on some servers but on others it can do some strange inexplicable things.
