I have embedded a video player in advert 1.

On windows XP running firefox 2, the player is visible - it displays above all other content - when the tab is closed, and the player should be hidden.

On Mac, running firefox, it is invisible, when the tab is closed, as it should be, but when I open the tab, you can see the player drop in at the top of the screen.

You can view the site at http://www.ravelproductions.com

Any tips on how to work with these visibility issues?

HI mcgeo,

I had quite a few issues with the z-index on the scroller template in development and wanted to do a lot more with the sliding panels but found that while the effects I was using worked great in Safari, they varied widely in the others.

I havent check your site on ie yet but will do so when I get back in to town ... on the weekend.

You could try changing the z-index on the 'embed' css for a start but am not optimistic about that path since I think flash and z-index sometimes get a little confused.

Another option would be to create another layer between the scroll container and the background and change the z-index so that the container sits above the new layer which sits above the background. this may give you more room to manouvre when it comes to the sliding panels.

Ill see what I can come up with but wont be until the weekend unfortunately,

Thanks Anthony.

Thanks for the response, Anthony. I love the scroller template, and am looking forward to resolving these issues.

I'm not quite sure what the z-index is, nor how to add an extra layer. I will wait until you return and have an opportunity to look at the site.

I will be available over the weekend and early next week - will check in for your advice.

Hi McGeo ... Im back now.

Can you email me some ftp details to design[@]joomlabamboo.com so I can work on your specific setup rather than trying to emulate it ...

Thanks Anthony.

Hi Anthony, thanks for the response. I've been out for awhile as well.

The site does not belong to me, so I do not have the liberty to provide ftp access to you, however I can answer any questions you may have. I can provide the code I used to embed the player, and tell you exactly how I did it. Also, I can provide all the code I changed.

I am still having the problem with the site, so yes, your help is still very much welcomed!

Thanks for that ...

Which addon have you used to embed the flash or have you hardcoded it?

Thanks Anthony.

Hi,

I think firefox just doesn't handle swf very well

I had the same problem with firefox but I've found a solution.

what you need to do is specify the transparency both in the and the elements

Hope this helps

The code tag didn't work for me either, so I will try deleting the from the beginning and end of the code:

Well that didn't work very well either, lol!

The code I embedded was proper - not like above!

Hey guys,

This is really quite a strange issue

What happens when you embed the flash movie in the scroll area itself? Does it show through non-scroll area (ie outside of the box).

I've run into issue with flash movies not being able to sit underneath divs hidden like this before and could get a workaround. I wonder if its going to be more worth your time to have thumbnails in the slide area that launch the flash in something like the mootools media box which is a lightbox for movie files.

I know its not really a solution but might be a possible work around

Sorry I cant be more constructive with this?

Although just thinking off the top of my head you may be able to use the mootips script to fade the flash movie in to the area that the slider would normally slide open. Have a look at the habitat3 demo for some tutorials on how to use the hidden DOM method.

I might edit the text above cos its really breaking the template and the forum at the moment

Sorry to create a problem for you. I haven't tried embedding the movie in the scroll area. I will test it and let you know the outcome.

Unfortunately, the thumbnail solution would be too high maintenance, and wouldn't be a good long-term solution.

I think you are onto something here with using mootools to fade the movie into the slider. I have already been looking at the habitat3 demo, and think there may be a solution there, but never having used mootools, I am having a struggle figuring out how to apply the script to scroller. I will keep working on it. Any tips you can offer would be most appreciated
