TOPIC: Setting up the Slider

Setting up the Slider 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 40
The October release is a slightly different setup in that its really designed for a site that is more like a businss card than a portal. The module slides upto 9 user modules in from the left or right so if you only really have a small amount of info you can load your whole site with one page load.

Setting up the template.

The main configuration occurs in the index.php file where you can set the following:

- The general height of the container.

- The style of the template - 15 to choose from.

- Choose whether tips are enabled or not.

- Choose whether to use slimbox extended or not.

- Menu items: This is where you nominate the name of the menu items that appear above the sliding area. Each menu item corresponds to their relative user module. ie menu_item1 relates to user module 1.

- Set the title of the tool tips when they appear.

From here all you need to do is to plug your info into the module positions and publish them and your content will appear.

Sliding Area.

The Slides will appear in the following order and relate to their corresponding menu items:

1. First Slide uses the main content area and inserts the content item according to the standard Joomla site.

2. User Module 1

3. User module 2

4. user Module 3

5. User Module 4

6. User Module 5

7. User Module 6

8. User module 7

9. User Module 8

10. User Module 9

Other Module Positions:

Advert 1, Advert2 and Advert3 are all positioned on the side tabs that are located in the respective order: left, top, bottom. You can edit the template_css to move the positions of these tabs.

Banner position is located between the two left and right nav buttons below the sliding panel.

If you have any other queries setting up the template please just post them below.

Sorry ... bit of a silly thing to leave out ...

Check the download area for a zip with the original files.

Thanks Anthony.

I just dl the Slider and business card zip. I love the Business Card w/slider look!

Is this template compatible with 1.5.0?

Not much luck getting installed on a fresh version of Joomla 1.5.0 production/stable.

Should i install a template loader?

I can see via FTP that the template folder has unique folders for each template. Every new template i have tried though gives me that

error" Direct Access to this location is not allowed."

Thanks

First thing to check is that you've enabled legacy mode ...

Free,

I have checked my installation appears to have enabled that upon initial setup of system.

I found it under the Plugins enable was already active when i checked and i have the words in red "legacy 1.0" in the title bar upper right side of control panel.

Anthony,

Thanks!

I guess i posted reply before i checked all forum messages.

I just tried the site and it appears that enabling legacy mode fixed the error" Direct Access to this location is not allowed."

Awesome onto customization now.....

Hi forgive my ignorance; having a hard time trying to figure some of this out.

Can you tell me if the Slider is a free template? If so, how do I download it?

If not, how much is it, and how do I download it?

Thanks!

Hey there,

The slider is part of the template club ... you can get it by becoming a member for $30 US or wait a few days until we launch the new site. The price will actually be going up to $40 US or $25 US per template.

Cheers Anthony.

I don't mean to be completely dim, but am slightly baffled. There is no xml file in the template file to install via 'Installers/templates' and all the instructions i've found on your site to install make absolutely no sense at all. I have a new install of Joomla, and have downloaded the JB_Slider zip file. What next?

NP Neojo,

You need to unzip the zip file first where you'll find the source files and another zip called JB_Slider.zip. Thats the file that you can use in the normal way to install the template.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Thanks Anthony.

Re:Setting up the Slider 1 Year ago Karma: 0
Is there a way to create more space vertically? In the demo I do not see any way to have it scroll down if needed. If there is a news section, does it have to be limited into the small space? What code would you replace the HOME with in php to make it a hard link, instead of referencing the main page in joomla?

Re:Setting up the Slider 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi Anthony, was wondering if you could still answer the question on more space in the content area. Is there any way to get more into the small area that's there? Also could you please help me with placing the modules correctly . I have some of the text that is related to certain menu items scrollong off track or not aligned right. I know you explained it a bit on some previous posts, but I'm so new to all this that I was hoping you could walk me thru it. Thanks. Oh and there was another post I read about where someone asked about the gallery on your demo site, that was asking how you got the box to come up when a pic was clicked. You didn't respond because the poster figured it out on his own. Could you please answer that one too. Thanks!

Hi Wendy ...

Im pretty sure you are talking about enslaved2wendy.net but you are using the scroller template at the moment ... if this isnt your site could you post a link? For both the scroller and slider template you can set the height of the main container by changing the parameter in the index.php file.

If we are talking about the same site it looks like the contact and free page module are overlapping. You need to put the co-ordinates in the index.php file to move them away from eachother. So if you change the top and left setting for module 9 to 400px up or down it will move the module and prevent it from overlapping. You may have to play with this to make sure it doesnt overlap other modules.

If you mean the slimbox/lighbox effect you need to add the rel="lightbox tag to your image html. The wysiwyg editor may strip this out ... I use JCE which is very good and wont do this. So your link would need to look like this:

[code]a href="http://joomlabamboo.com/images/fbfiles/avatars/s_62.jpg" rel="lightbox">

Re:Setting up the Slider 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I don't quite understand how and where I can add my own text to the different sliding panels.

First:

I understand how I can add menu items (by publishing a module and assigning it to a specific place like user1) and how to change the names of these menu items in the index.php.

Under the different menu-items i just want to publish text and some simple graphics. Like you normally would do by adding an article in Joomla.

But in this template you need to publish a module? Which module would be best?

To sum it up: I understand your first post almost completely. The only thing I don't get is:

QUOTE:
From here all you need to do is to plug your info into the module positions and publish them and your content will appear.

How do i do this?
