As a part of our redesign last month. I added a new way to preview our responsive Joomla templates.

The responsive preview button when clicked will load the template's demo site in an iframe and display some icons that allow you to change the size of the demo site.

So you can quickly see how the design changes as the screen size changes.

The neat thing about this is that we lazyloaded the iframe via the use of data attributes so that we weren't loading the demo site on each and every page load and only if the visitor wants to see it.

One of the best features added to the recently released Joomla 3.2 is the Install from web feature. Other CMS's like Wordpress have had something like this for some time of course, but this addition is feature rich and more importantly easy to use.

What is the Install from the web feature

The Install from Web tab in the Joomla installer draws in listings from the Joomla Extension directory and displays them in a easy to use interface in the Joomla administrator. You can sort the listing by popularity, rating, name, updated or newest ordering, find the extension you want to install and install it with a few mouse clicks.

Our free Joomla extensions use the install from web feature.

Our free extensions including JB Type, Fitvids, jFlickr, Hoverbox and Captify Content are now all compatible with the Install from web feature and can be installed on your site with a few clicks in your Joomla 3.2 site admin. There are currently some pull requests in the Joomla CMS repo that will make it easier to list commercial listings and as soon as those changes are made we will also make the Zentools module available via this method.

Last year we released a small add on service for our users that allowed us to provide help for issues that are outside of the scope of our normal Joomla template and extension support. Up until now we offered one hour and four blocks of time and now I am happy to say that we are also offering a half hour block of custom support time.

The half hour block of time is designed to fit the occasional small issue that might pop up that is outside of your current skillset. Services that might come under the half hour block are:

• Diagnosing (and fixing if possible) why a server move has resulted in a 500 internal server error
• Diagnosing (and fixing if possible) an issue with a 3rd party component.
• Setting up 3rd party extensions
• Small adjustments or additions to template design
• Install a template or extension into an existing site

A few weeks ago I announced that we were retiring the lifetime developer plan and would soon be introducing a new plan to the Joomlabamboo subscription options. It's taken a little longer for me to decide on the featureset of the new plan but the delay gave some lucky users the chance to take up the lifetime plan before it was unpublished.

So without further ado I would like to introduce the 3 Year developer plan.

Back in April, 2011 I announced a new club subscription that gave (and still does give) lifetime access to our products and services. While it has been great having that plan in our range of products, it's time to say goodbye.

I've actually really enjoyed offering that plan as a part of our subscriptions. It was a way for us to say thankyou to all of our loyal members, who have been with us over the years and to encourage them to continue to use our products. However after some lengthy consideration I've decided to remove it and replace it with a new plan.

This month we hit a number of remarkable milestones for our Joomla template club and so I thought what better way to celebrate than to create a coupon or two to celebrate.

It's our birthday ...

... Well sort of. This month back in 2006 I registered the domain name Joomlabamboo.com. At that time I had no idea where that decision would lead me to.

In 2006 I was a practicing acupuncturist who needed a website and so I dove in (head first) and taught myself how to use Joomla, started to learn how to code (look ma - no tables) and also started to learn a new language - visual design.

It's been a pretty amazing ride since then and it's a ride that continues to challenge and push me, creatively and technically.

A big thanks goes out to all of the wonderfully talented people I've had the opportunity to work with over the last six years.

100,000 Forum Posts

A few weeks ago we also hit another really important milestone - 100,000 forum posts. I can still actually remember writing the first announcement on the forum and could only dream of a day when we would hit such a magical milestone. 100,000 posts ... wow really hard to believe.

In addition to this we have approximately 10,000 support tickets in the system and will continue to make support one of our highest priorities. While we may not get it right 100% of the time it's a really important part of our work. I've learnt a lot from our support system personally and truly treasure the deep life lessons that I've gleaned from it.

I want to send out a big thanks to all of the members who helped to create a really friendly atmosphere in our forum and ticket system. We couldn't have done it without you.
