Welcome to Joomlabamboo 2.0! Yesterday we unveiled and relaunched the next iteration of the Joomlabamboo site with this fresh new design and a whole stack of new Joomla goodness.
This has been a major project which probably started around 12 months ago when I first started to sketch out a redesign but has involved hours or reworking and recoding - not to mention the preparation involved with moving a site of this size.

We've been re-considering the way that the Joomlabamboo quickstart packages are handled for some time and thanks to some recent feedback on our forum we've take a little bit of time to put together a new system to replace the quickstart packages, with what we are calling JB SnapShots.

It seems like an age since I promised that we would be redesigning and rebooting the Joomlabamboo website but after ten mockups it seems Im no closer to deciding on a new design for the site. Whats that old adage about a plumber always having a leaking tap? It seems like its harder for a web designer to redesign their own website rather than some one elses. So in lieu of a new design Ive just published a new download area that should make downloading templates and their extensions a lot easier.

As you may or may not know Im rebuilding the entire Joomlabamboo site from the ground up and as a part of the rebuild I procured the services of Paul Hassing to do some of the copywriting. I first met Paul on Twitter via someone elses tweet and a quick look at his bio made me want to know more. In a matter of a few clicks I was deep in conversation with Paul, finding out what he does and more importantly how he could help me. Paul Hassing, is the Founder & Senior Writer for the Feisty Empire and the following is an overview on what he does and his views on writing for the web and using social media for internet marketing.

One of the main issues that gets in the way of being able to use a Joomla 1.0 module in Joomla 1.5 using legacy mode is the way that Joomla 1.5 creates the module folder structure.
In Joomla 1.0 when referencing a script the the script reference looked something like this:
That would reference the script nicely since in Joomla 1.0 all of the module files are in the module directory as per the image below.

I recently had the chance to chat with John Coonen, one of the creators of Joomla Expo in Chicago earlier this year. It was a huge success from all reports, and when John mentioned that it was expanding into CMS Expo I was curious to hear more.

As a matter of course we are going to be shifting template development solely to the Joomla 1.5 platform. This will enable us to make better use of the advanced templating features of Joomla 1.5 and allow for a better work flow for all support material and quick start packages.
We will however offer a template customisation service whereby a Joomla 1.5 template will be able to be ported back to Joomla 1.0. We will have more details for this soon.
The change will take effect for the August template release.

I stumbled upon the Jquery UI themer this morning. Its a great, easy way to drum up some styling on your jquery accordion, tabs, slider, date picker and dialogue box. Key in your colours or even choose from the theme gallery, download the zip and presto there you have it ... your very own personalised Jquery interface, styled and ready to go.
